KATHMANDU, May 25: Women lawmakers from the Maoist party have demanded fifty percent reservation for women in all organs of the government.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, 32 women lawmakers from the party demanded implementation of reservation to ensure principle of inclusion and grant special rights to women.
The lawmakers´ statement comes at a time when a Maoist women leader Jayapuri Gharti has been refusing to take the oath of office and secrecy as minister for social welfare, demanding 33 percent women ministers in the cabinet.
The women lawmakers who issued the statement are close to Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal while Ghartimagar is from the Mohan Baidya camp of the Maoist party.
