HONG KONG, May 25: Officials of Tibet Autonomous Region of China have expressed commitment to promote Nepal by encouraging tourists in Lhasa to visit Nepal.
At a program organized to promote Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) campaign at Nepal´s Consulate General´s Office in Lhasa, Nepali officials requested Tibetan tour operators to include Nepal in their tourism package.
Tibet welcomes around six million tourists a year.
“I request all tourism entrepreneurs in Tibet to include Nepal in their tourism packages,” said Dr Songping Wang, deputy director general of Tourism Administration Office (TAO) of Tibet. He expressed hope that more Chinese visitors would visit Nepal once the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung entry point is opened.
“We are ready to promote our neighboring country. We consider it as part of our responsibility to make NTY a success,” said Yang Xian Kun, deputy director general, Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of Tibet.
The program was organized by Nepal´s Consulate General´s Office in Lhasa in coordination with TAO and FAO of Tibet.
Nepal´s Consulate General in Lhasa, Naindra Prasad Upadhyaya, sought support of local tourism entrepreneurs and media for the success of the yearlong tourism promotional campaign.

Meanwhile, China´s national flag carrier Air China is preparing to operate two flights a day on Lhasa-Kathmandu route within two months. The airline is currently flying four times a week on the sector. Similarly, Tibet Airlines of Tibet is planning to operate flights on Lhasa-Kathmandu route by next month.
