KATHMANDU, May 23: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) has called its central committee meeting on Monday. TMDP, a constituent party of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), called its CC meeting two days after the front concluded its mass rallies at various places in Tarai.
“We will discuss the current political scenario and chalk out our future strategy at the CC meeting,” TMDP Co-chairman Hridayash Tripati told Republica.
Asked about their possible next step, Tripathi said it would depend on how the Maoists tackle the current situation.
TMDP Joint General Secretary Jitendra Sonal said the meeting will also review the success of mass gatherings organized by UDMF in six different places across Tarai.
He said the resignation of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is a must to pave way for the formation of a national consensus government and to conclude the constitution writing and peace process.
TMDP has warned that it would take to the streets if the current coalition chooses to extend the term of CA through majority voting in parliament.
