KATHMANDU, March 14: Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel and seven other office-bearers of the Commission have resigned on Monday. They submitted their resignation to the Prime Minister.
The NPC members to resign include Dr Puskar Bajracharya, Dr Chet Raj Panta, Dr RD Singh, Dr Ganesh Gurung, Dr Tirtha Khaniya and Kamlesworpuri Goswami.
Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota, Dr Prem Kunwar, Prof. Subodh Narayan Jha and Ram Kumar Sharma however continue to remain members of the NPC.
Speaking at a press conference organized here today to inform the media about his resignation, NPC Vice-Chairman Dr Pokharel said he resigned to make it easier for the Prime Minister to work in the changed context.
