KATHMANDU, Oct 28: With a view to promoting animation in local cinema, Animation Short Film Festival is being organized for the first time in Nepal by the Independent Film Society (IFS), in association with Artistic Alliance Nepal (AAN), on Friday, October 29 at Nepal Tourism Board, Exhibition Road.
“Altogether eighteen short films, with an average time of 6-10 minutes, are going to be screened,” expressed Narendra Mainali, Vice President of IFS and one of the organizers of the event.
“The films have been made in nine countries – France, the Netherlands, Korea, the US, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, and Nepal,” he added.
Mainali also informed that many of the films have previously been screened as well as awarded on the International stage.
Along with the screenings, an interaction program about short animated films is also set to be organized.
“We’ve already given the films to some well known Nepali film critics who can review them and come prepared for the interaction program,” stated Mainali.
“Though we have some amazingly talented animators in Nepal, animation itself has yet to come into Nepali cinema. So we hope things will change with this event,” conveyed the organizers.
Entry is Free. The screening is set to start from 3 p.m. sharp on Friday, October 29.
