CHITWAN, Feb 16: A cadre of Youth Association Nepal (YAN) affiliated to the CPN (UML) has been arrested Thursday for masterminding the murder of Shiva Poudel, Chitwan district president of Tarun Dal, a youth wing of the Nepali Congress (NC).

Prakash Regmi, an active member of YAN was arrested two days after the arrest of Suraj Shahi, town committee chairman of the YAN.

Poudel was murdered in Bharatpur jail. Chitwan police Chief SP Bhupal Bahadur Bhandari said that Regmi, allegedly involved in killing Poudel´s younger brother Gopi as well, was arrested from Hakimchowk of Bharatpur on the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim´s family.

Police say search is on for others accused in the murder. Some of the accused are already in Bharatpur jail.

Poudel, languishing in Bharatpur jail on the charge of killing Sanjay Lama, one of the accused in Gopi´s murder, was attacked by jail inmates on December 6. He died while receiving treatment in Kathmandu on December 17.
