KATHMANDU, May 27: A meeting of top leaders of the three major political parties – UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML – held at the prime minister’s official residence at Baluwatar on Thursday also ended inconclusively as the parties continued to disagree on the handover of Maoist weapons.

The leaders have, however, agreed to meet yet again on Friday to try to explore common ground on weapons handover and extension of the CA term that expires on May 28, Saturday.

At today’s six-hour-long meeting, UML leaders floated a proposal to amass all the Maoist arms, put them in containers at the Shaktikhor cantonment and hand over the keys to the Special Committee. [More]

CJ stresses transparency in courts

KATHMANDU, May 27: Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi on Thursday instructed judges across the country to provide hassle free justice and maintain transparency while issuing verdicts.

Issuing a six-page document, CJ Regmi urged all judges through chief judges of all Appellate Courts to expedite backlog cases and submit progress reports every three months to him. He has, however, asked the chief judges of Appellate Courts to present the first report within a month. [More]

Bhutan may waive tariff for 300 Nepali goods

KATHMANDU, May 27: Bhutan has responded positively to give zero tariff entry facility to some 300 Nepali goods, reciprocating Nepal´s similar response for some one hundred Bhutanese products.

During the bi-lateral trade talks held on 24th - 25th in Bhutanese capital Thimpu officials of the both countries have agreed on a draft of trade agreement that comprises trade protocol, issues of Rules of Origin (RoO) and setting up an intergovernmental trade forum. [More]
